Abstract
Objectives: Determine if the instillation of intraperitoneal bupivacaine diminish the postoperative pain after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Patients and method: Prospective, randomized, simple blind with placebo group study, with patients operated for this procedure. The patients were assigned to tree groups. Group A: After the cholecystectomy 50 mgs of not dilute bupivacaine were instillated to the subfrenic space. Group B: 50 to 100 cc of physiologic solution were instillated in the same space. Group C. The cholecystectomy was completed in the usual form. In the first postoperative visit (10 days), an analogic pain scale was applied to study the pain in the postoperative days 0, 1and 2.
Results: 136 patients were included for analysis. To the A group 33 patients were assigned, 33 for B group and 66 to the C group. The difference between the groups was analyzed with t test, and no significance difference was found with respect to postoperative pain.
Conclusions: The intraperitoneal instillation of bupivacaine doesn`t significatively lower the postcholecystectomy pain.
