Abstract
The low applicability of natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery has promoted the development of single port surgery, being the cholecystectomy one of the most performed procedure. Objective: Determine if the single port cholecystectomy generates less pain than conventional multiport surgery. Method: Prospective, controlled, non randomized study. Settings: Domingo Luciani Hospital, Caracas, Venezuela, between February 2010 and May 2012. Two groups were formed: Group A: Single port laparoscopic cholecystectomy, Group B: 4 port laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Analogic pain scale and analgesics consumed was registered in the first 7 days post-surgery. Results: 40 patents per group were included. There were no significant differences in any of the analyzed variables. Conclusions: Post-surgery pain is not less in single port than multiport cholecystectomy.
