Abstract
Objective: Determine the impact of the practice in training model in skills development for laparoscopic single site appendectomy. Materials and methods: The impact of the practice in the training model of five surgery residents with the same level of experience in laparoscopic surgery was determined with the GOALS score (Global Operative Assessment of Laparoscopic Skills) and time to complete the objective in seven practice sessions. Results: The average score at the begin of the study was 10,6 ± 3,13 points. With an execution average time of 20,4 ± 7,1 min. After the training sessions a notable improvement was observed in the score and an important reduction of execution average
time, 24 ± 1,4 point and 11,2 ± 1,3 min (p= 0,030 y 0,053) respectively. Probably due to the familiarization with the process and overcoming the difficulties own of this.
Conclusion: The laparoscopic single site appendectomy
practice with the training model, leads to better performance of
the assess surgeons.
