Abstract

Superior epigastric artery thrombosis (SEAT) is a rare phenomenon that can cause serious complications, such as abdominal pain and space-occupying lesions (SOL) in the abdominal wall. Factors such as trauma and coagulation disorders are influential, and arterial injury is the most common cause of rectus sheath hematoma (RSH). Direct mechanisms, such as trauma, and indirect mechanisms, such as Valsalva maneuvers, are recognized as causes of vascular damage. This condition can also occur in patients with coagulation disorders. Case report: A 68-year-old patient presented with an increase in volume in the left hemiabdomen after physical exertion. Examination revealed an indurated and painful mass. Imaging studies, including ultrasound and computed tomography (CT), showed an intramural LOE in the left rectus abdominis muscle. Surgery and histopathological analysis confirmed the diagnosis. Conclusion: It is crucial to consider TAES in the differential diagnosis, as it is a rare condition in the medical literature. Appropriate treatment can prevent complications and improve the patient's prognosis
