Abstract
Objective: To identify the prevalence of Burnout syndrome in residents of the General Surgery service of the “Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño” in the period between 2018 and 2019. Method: It is a prospective, descriptive and transversal field work. Data were obtained through the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire. To organize the data, the descriptive statistics technique was used, processed using the Excel program of Windows 2010. Results: High levels of emotional fatigue, exhaustion due to work, feeling of emptiness at completion, frustration at work and fatigue are highlighted. For working with people. Depersonalization was reflected in the 2nd and 3rd year students. There were no differences in marital status, presence of children, age or year of residence. Conclusions: Burnout syndrome was identified in residents of the General Surgery service of the Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño Hospital. Recommendations: Review requirements in daily hours to compare the working condition in surgery services and other specialties in the hospital. Execute preventive measures to avoid events prejudice the work of the residents of the 1st and 3rd year. Develop more studies on factors that affect Burnout syndrome.
