Abstract
The realization of a degree thesis supposes a coordinated and integrated work between the thesis student and the tutor, where the potential of the former must be strengthened by the experience of the latter. Every degree thesis is always a complex product that has two aspects that must be combined dialectically; on the one hand, innovation and moderation and, on the other, that, for its successful completion, the commitment and responsibility of both parties is required. From the methodological point of view, documentary research was used, which allowed locating, in different texts, the accumulated knowledge about the importance played by the tutor in the preparation and successful completion of undergraduate and postgraduate theses in medical studies in Venezuela. The purpose of the article was conceived to elaborate a critical vision of the situation of preparation of theses in undergraduate and postgraduate medical studies in Venezuela, taking into account the importance played by the tutor.
