Abstract

Objective: To present the experience of our service in the
management of the Fournier’s disease between the years 1996
to 2006.
Patients and methods: Retrospective and descriptive study.
Were studied all the patients entered by Fournier’s disease in the
Service of Surgery One at “Hospital Vargas de Caracas” between
January of 1996 and December of 2006.
Results: A total of 10 patients studied who had presented
Fournier’s disease, all masculine. The most affected age group was
the group between 51 and 60 years with a 40% (four cases). The
primary focus was anorectal with a 50%, observed with more frequency
(five cases). The number of cleaning in the O.R. was between
one and five, with average of 2.7 surgical cleaning by
patient. Colostomies were made to 80% of the patients, cistostomies
to 30%, handling the urinary tract to 70% with Foley catheter,
was made grafts to 70% of the patients. There were no deceases
in this series of patients.
Conclusions: The gangrene of Fournier must be diagnosed in
