Abstract
Objective: To discuss on the appropriate handling of patients with myxoma in upper jawbone, with a right diagnosis and early treatment due the aggressiveness of this kind of tumor. Patient and method: Description of a clinical case and literature review. A patient attended at the Service of Plastic, Reconstructive and Maxillofacial Surgery. Hospital Universitario Dr. Luís Razetti, Barcelona. Estado Anzoátegui. Results: The election’s treatment is a block resection with oncological margins of security, final and frozen section biopsy, because the forecast is better as much as radical be extirpated. It does not respond to chemotherapy and radiation. Conclusion: A case report of myxoma is presented,
mesenchymal tumor of low frequency, maxillary and jaw location, of benign cytological characteristics, but it can shows a recidivate
aggressive behavior after an inadequate surgical resection.
