Abstract

The Venezuelan Journal of Surgery publishes in this issue the document "Profile of Competence of the Surgeon General in Venezuela" which was built through the Delphi methodology for the creation of consensus. The SVC undertook this important document as a collective work of members of our society that brought together the opinions of union leaders of the SVC, university professors who are experts in postgraduate surgery education, representatives of the academy of the Autonomous Universities in Venezuela, and various surgeons. generals who exercise in the country.

The justification and relevance of defining the Competence Profile of the Surgeon General is due to the international reality that exists in the university environment, who in the formative stage of surgical residencies must necessarily include, in their curricular and educational development, the six essential areas of competence. to achieve in the candidates to integrate the cohorts of graduates in the specialty of surgery.
